Meet RORY, the 23-year-old, Rhode Island-born, Nashville-based synth pop musician who is redefining the way we approach sad songs. Drawing from her personal experiences, RORY has created a sound that is both introspective and uplifting, transforming heartbreak and difficult emotions into empowering anthems of resilience and hope. The Rhode Island native has dedicated most of her adolescence to music. After learning guitar at just 8 years old, she spent countless nights alone in her bedroom writing songs and eventually producing them on her own.
Encouraged by friends and family to enter competitions to showcase her talent, she won awards at the Berklee High School Jazz Festival, was runner-up in a regional “Idol-like” competition in Rhode Island, ultimately getting selected to compete in American Idol in 2020, getting her “golden ticket,” successfully making it through two rounds in Hollywood. After moving to Nashville in 2021, RORY devoted her time to cultivating relationships with a community of writers, honing her ability to translate the angst and optimism of her generation into song. Inspired by musical influences like Chelsea Cutler, Taylor Swift, and Mimi Webb, RORY has crafted a sound that is both deeply personal and universally relatable, blending electronic beats with heartfelt lyrics to create a sound that is uniquely her own.
